Getting the Party Started

Getting the Party Started

Planning a party can be overwhelming. But we put ourselves through the stress because who doesn’t love a party? Enjoying a party is easy, organizing it is a whole different ball game. Some planners plan a party months in advance and there are those who do their ‘thing’ last minute. I am sure that both people are stressed and under pressure.
Luckily, we have a few things here to help you plan for your next event and possibly relieve some of the planning stress.

Chose a Theme or the Type of Party
First, figure out what type of party you are having.

  • Surprise party
  • Birthday party
  • Anniversary party
  • Graduation party
  • Baby shower party
  • Engagement party
  • Bridal shower
  • Pool party
  • Costume party

Budget Time
After deciding what your party theme is going to be, you need to figure out your budget. How much do you want to spend on invitations, food, drinks, music, tables and chairs, decorations, and so on? You have to decide what is needed and what you can do without. The point of figuring out your budget is to stay within that budget and not go over.

When, Where, and What Time?
You need to figure out if you want your event indoors or out and what time of the year, summer or the fall. Next, are you going to have it at a pool, community center, hotel, or at the office? Keep in mind you may need to get a permit or license to hold the party.

Who’s Coming?
Figure out your guest list based on your budget and venue. Things to think about is will the location support the guest that were invited and can guest invite others. How do you plan to invite guests, paper invitation, test, social media… You also have to be sure to invite people on the list if you are throwing a party for someone. Be sure to include RSVP cards, directions, and other notes.

Time to Shop
Make sure you have a list ready before you hit the stores. Your list should include everything you need such as decorations, balloons, flowers, tablecloth, and party favors. Have a supply list ready. Write down anything you can possibly think of, it’s better to be over-prepared than stressing the day of.

Get a Head Start on Things
Prepare any food and drinks the day before the party. If you can decorate the venue before the party, big win! Decorating can take some time that could be spent on other things. It’s better to have too much time on your hands than too little.

Enjoy Your Time
You’ve put in a lot of time and hard work, now it’s time to have some fun.
